I'm keeping it short and simple this week, due to time restraints. So, here is your reading plan for the week!
Monday - Genesis 6
Tuesday - Genesis 7
Wednesday - Genesis 8
Thursday - Genesis 9
Friday - Genesis 10
Keep reading God's Word!
Good morning, Sweet Sisters!
I am so glad you are here! I am so excited that our Summer Study time is finally here and I can't wait to jump into God's Word with you!
If this is your first time here: Welcome! Don't let the words "Bible Study" scare you. Here at Redeeming Elegance, we are here to encourage you in your daily walk with Christ. Each week, I will post a reading plan and all you do is read. That's it! Nothing fancy. Nothing hard. Just simply reading the Bible, one chapter at a time, allowing God's Word to mold us, guide us and carry us through this life.
Our reading plan covers one chapter a day - Monday through Friday - this allows us the weekend to catch up on our reading. Feel free to read at your own pace. Read ahead or slow it down a bit. There is no workbook to keep up with. We are just soaking up God's Word. Share this with all of the ladies in your life. Chances are, they could use a little accountability to read the Bible daily. Share our study with your email contacts, facebook or twitter friends, share it with your ladies' small groups.
For this study, we will begin in Genesis, and finish up in Romans. You can check back here through the week for thoughts on what we are reading or you can subscribe to our RSS feed and receive notifications when a new post has been published. I also want to encourage you to comment on anything God has laid on your heart from our reading or if you have a prayer request, please comment that as well so that we can pray with you. So without further ado..... Here is this week's reading plan!
Monday - Genesis 1
Tuesday - Genesis 2
Wednesday - Genesis 3
Thursday - Genesis 4
Friday - Genesis 5
Let's get started!
Jump in and read God's Word with us!
Often times, we shy away from sharing the Gospel with others. We tend to believe that there is only one way to do this, and usually we feel as if we don't know how to share the Gospel. I know this is true for me. I feel inadequate and I certainly don't want anyone to think I'm a hypocrite because my past is not perfect. I think, sometimes, we just make it difficult when it doesn't have to be. In fact, God does not require us to have a PHD to share His Word. He just calls us to go out and make disciples. But how?
It's easy. Our testimonies.
I love a good story. I absolutely love for people to tell me their story. What makes them, them. What experiences in their life brought them to where they are today. Our stories make us real; they give others something to relate to. Our stories can be powerful. They can be just what someone needs to hear, before taking the next step to following Jesus. All we have to do, is share what God has done for us in our own lives. Share your story. In fact, Jesus calls us to share our stories.
"When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil spirit came out from a cemetery to meet Him.
This man lived among the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain.
Whenever he was put into chains and shackles - as he often was - he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him.
Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones.
When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw Him, ran to meet Him, and bowed low before Him.
With a shriek, he screamed, 'Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In the name of God, I beg you, don't torture me!'
For Jesus had already said to the spirit, 'Come out of the man, you evil spirit.'
Then Jesus demanded, 'What is your name?' And he replied, 'My name is Legion, because there are many of us inside this man.'
Then the evil spirits begged Him again and again not to send them to some distant place.
There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding on the hillside nearby.
'Send us into those pigs,' the spirits begged. 'Let us enter them.'
So Jesus gave them permission. The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd of 2,000 pigs plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water.
The herdsmen fled to the nearby town and the surrounding countryside, spreading the news as they ran. People rushed out to see what happened.
A crowd soon gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons. He was sitting there fully clothed and perfectly sane. and they were all afraid.
Then those who had seen what happened told the others about the demon-possessed man and the pigs.
And the crowd began pleading with Jesus to go away and leave them alone.
As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with Him.
But Jesus said, 'No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful He has been.'
So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them." ~ Mark 5:2-20
What a story! What a testimony! This man shared what God had done for him, and because He was faithful and obedient to share, those who heard him, were amazed. I have no doubt, that God used this man and his testimony to bring others to Him.
God wants to do the same with our stories. He wants us to share Him, and all His goodness, all His mercy, to others so they can come to know Him personally too. Maybe you feel like your testimony isn't powerful. Maybe it is not quite as dramatic as this man's or maybe you feel it is too dramatic - too embarrassing, too hard - to share. Let me encourage you to share anyway. God will use each of our lives, each of our stories, to bring glory back to Him. All we have to do is share it.
What has God done for you?
What has He brought you out of?
How has He blessed you?
How has He strengthened you?
What trials, struggles and circumstances has He used to bring you closer to Him?
Share these things with others. Share them with those you love, those you serve and those God brings in your path. There is something in each of our continuing stories, that God will use to draw others to Him. Don't hesitate! Just share Jesus!
"But Jesus said, 'No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful He has been.'" ~ Mark 5:19
Tell them everything God has done for you, Sweet Sister, and how merciful He has been!
Keep reading God's Word!
For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. "
