"Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 'Don't be afraid, Mary,' the angel told her, 'for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!'" ~ Luke 1:29-33
Confused and disturbed. I can imagine. Other versions translate as troubled or perplexed. I can safely say that if an angel appeared before me giving me compliments, I would be confused, perplexed and greatly troubled. But what comes next is amazing! Gabriel not only tells Mary, a virgin, that she will have a son, but he also tells her that this boy would be great and called the Son of the Most High (Almighty God) and his kingdom would reign forevermore. Whew! What a calling! I wonder if, momentarily, she felt a bit overwhelmed. As a mother myself, that seems like a lot of pressure. :) God's call on Mary was to fulfill prophecy. It was no surprise to the Lord, He had already made the way for Jesus to come and He was ready to bring Him on the scene!
Almighty God, I love you. I am so grateful for Your gift of Jesus. Help me not to lose the true meaning of our Christmas celebration: the Son of the Most High, whose kingdom will never end! Thank you, Lord! In the sweet name of Jesus, amen.
For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. "
Hi! I'm Andrea, wife to my handsome hubby, homeschooling mama to my 5 amazing blessings (with one more on the way), and daughter of the King of kings. I am so glad you have stopped by my little piece of the web. My prayer is that the Lord will use this blog to encourage you in your personal, daily walk with Christ.
