"All who heard the shepherds story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them." ~ Luke 2:18-20
I can only imagine the things that were going through Mary's mind. Everything God had promised had happened. she was now holding her baby, God's Son. The Bible doesn't tell us what words Mary spoke during these moments. We don't know what conversation ensued between she and Joseph and even between them and the shepherds, but we do not what she did with her thoughts: she kept them in her heart. Things she would never forget. Things she would think about often. Moments that would become precious, loving memories for years to come.
I want to do the same. I don't want the "feeling" of Christmas to just last through December. I want the miracle of Jesus' birth and the gift of His salvation to be a part of my life each and every day. I want the blessings that God has bestowed upon me and the grace and mercy He has given me to be a part of who I am. I want to ponder on these things and think about them often. How about you?
My Heavenly Father, Help me remember ALL You have done. What You have done for me, what You have done for the world. May I ponder on these things and keep them in my heart always. May my life, my words, my actions be a reflection of who You are and Your love for ALL. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
