"If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others,I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn't love others, I would be nothing.
If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it, but if I didn't love others, I would have gained nothing.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!.....Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love." ~ I Corinthians 13:1-8,13
This is the true definition of love. This is how God commands us to love others. So often we see these verses at weddings and it is absolutely perfect to share, read and promise at a wedding, but this is not a command for spouses, only. This is a command for ALL people.
"Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbors as yourself.'" ~ Matthew 22:37-39
"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." ~ John 13:34-35
"This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." ~ John 15:12-13
"Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other." Romans 12:9-10
"Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love." I John 4:7-8
"But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike." ~Matthew 5:44-45
Love is action! It's not just a word. If you truly want to love others, take action! Love with your whole heart and don't look back! Be patient, kind, selfless, merciful, honest, never give up, don't lose faith, be hopeful, endure through all circumstances and love everyone in your path, this way. Love your spouse, your children, your parents, your siblings, your friends, your neighbors, your extended family, your church family, your community, and your enemies. Only three things will last forever - faith, hope and love - and love is the greatest. So, love today and every day as if it's your only day! Love those , that God has placed before you, and love them deeply and completely!
Happy Valentine's Day, Sweet Sisters!
For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. "
